I really want to start riding again.

Maybe I can find a place in Toronto (and I actually mean in Toronto) that I can take lessons at. Even better would be part-boarding/free leasing. But I’m trying to be realistic.

I miss riding. I miss my old coach.

Star sightings at Cavalia were bigger then I expected!

I MET CHRIS POTTER!! [For those of you who don’t know who Chris Potter is, he plays Tim Flemming on CBC’s Heartland. I’m a huge fun, and kinda in love with him. Just saying.]

Anyways, I was working tickets at the door to the Rendez-Vous tent at Cavalia and I see him walk through the door. Him and his whole family walk over to me and HE SHAKES MY HAND! I told myself that I wouldn’t fan girl, and I’m so proud I did because this other woman did, but I definitely walked around on a cloud for the rest of the night.

I also met the president of the OEF (Ontario Equestrian Federation), and multiple journalists for horse magazines.

I feel like a little kid in a candy store. And it’s been over 12 hours.

While it is the end of her incredible career, I refuse to be sad. Sara is retiring healthy, happy and at her best.I am so grateful that fate chose me as the one to be in her life, be her rider and partner as she blazed her trail into show jumping history. There will be times I will certainly miss her being by my side when the pressure is on but when I think of her, all I have is incredible memories. As I look back, all I can say is “how lucky were we?”.It is hard to imagine, let alone thank all of the people who at one point or another played a role in Sara and my success, but I will try. My dad, Francois Mathy, Erica Mckeever, Lee Mckeever, Harry Gill, Hunter Harrison, Tom Grossman, Carrie Stanton, Emma Williams, Di Puopolo, Tim Ober, James Beldon, Bill Bradlee, Gabe Cook, Mikey Boylan, Missy Clark, the Van Bunder family, and many many more.
